Dr. Amy Cheng

Dr. Amy Cheng is an Emergency Medicine physician at St. Michael’s Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She joined St. Michael’s in 2012, bringing expertise in quality improvement, patient safety, and global health to both her clinical and academic work. Dr. Cheng completed her MD and Emergency Medicine residency (FRCPC) at the University of Toronto and earned an MBA from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. She has held several leadership roles, including Corporate Medical Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety and Co-Chair of Physician Wellness in the Department of Emergency Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital. Outside of the hospital, she advises corporations on strategies to improve employee physical and mental health in the workplace. Dr. Cheng has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and has been invited to present at national and international conferences. Outside of the ED, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, running, riding horses and honing her barista skills.
